- Who was the founder of the Qin Dynasty in China and what is this dynasty known for? (pgs. 152-153)
- What Chinese ruling philosophy that we have studied did he believe in? (pg. 152)
- List some ways that the Qin made China more uniform (the same throughout the empire (pgs. 152-153)
- Who were the Xiongnu and why were they important? (pg. 153)
- How did the Han "appease" the Xiongnu? (pg. 154)
- What role did Confucianism play in Han China? (bottom of pg. 155)
- What are some examples in the text that show Han China as a "patriarchy"? (pg. 156)
- What was the significance of the city of Chang'an? (pg. 156)
- What kinds of science and tech did the Han develop? (pg. 158)
- Know about Han roads and how they compared to Roman roads. (pg. 158)
- What about Buddhism did the Han find "repugnant"? (pg. 158)
- What led to the fall of the Han? How was this similar to the fall of the Roman Empire? (pgs. 158-159)
- Pages 159 through 161 compare Rome and the Han. We will discuss this in detail in class on Friday.
